The Beach Boys

Good Timin'

Live-Knebworth 1980

-Historic Concert Performance on Video and DVD-

New York, NY (January 22, 2003) – This March, Eagle Rock Entertainment releases on VHS and DVD the concert performance that marked the final time all the original Beach Boys: Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson and Alan Jardine, would appear together on a stage for television -- six weeks later Dennis was dead.  The program was shot at the famed festival grounds at the Knebworth House Castle on June 21st, 1980. The Beach Boys Good Timin’ Live-Knebworth 1980 will be available at local video outlets for a price of $14.98 on VHS and $19.98 on DVD on March 25, 2003..   The program has a running time of approximately 70 minutes.

The Beach Boys Good Timin’ Live-Knebworth 1980 captures one of the more well-known concerts of the Beach Boys’ career.  The setlist on this dark, rainy night when the Beach Boys brought a little California sunshine to England, included virtually all of the Beach Boys tried and true hits such as Fun, Fun, Fun, Help Me Rhonda, Sloop John B., Lady Lynda, I Get Around, Barbara Ann, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Surfin’ USA, California Girls and of course Good Vibrations.

The show spotlights each bandmember in this carefully arranged live performance.  Brian sings Sloop John B, Al transitions from Cotton Fields to Heroes and Villains, Mike owns Be True to Your School, Carl rips into Darlin’ and Dennis tackles an abbreviated You Are So Beautiful.  The playing and harmony vocals are tighter than ever, and the band is clearly having a genuinely good time throughout the night’s performance.  Excerpts of this unique concert have been featured on various documentaries when showing the original Beach Boys at their best before Dennis died.

Beginning their career as the most popular surf band in the nation, the Beach Boys emerged by 1966 as America's preeminent pop group, the only act able to rival the over-arching success of the Beatles with both mainstream listeners and a critical music industry. The Beach Boys are one of the most successful groups of all time, clocking up 28 Top 40 singles and numerous hit albums.  Pet Sounds is generally regarded as one of the all time great albums and Good Vibrations was voted the best single ever released in Mojo magazine’s poll.

This release is a rare moment in music history having been painstakingly edited and mixed to present the Beach Boys in total harmony – for the last time.
