Orby Records Spotlights Jerry Lee Lewis
Next to Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis was Sun's biggest star in the 1950's after proprietor Sam Phillips sold Presley's contract to RCA.   Lewis blew away audiences with huge rock 'n' roll hits such as "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire."Lewis recorded a vast array of tunes during his time at Sun until a scandal (marrying his 13-year-old cousin before bothering to divorce his first two wives) nearly derailed his career during a tour of England in the late '50s. Lewis made a comeback of epic proportions in the '60s by pursuing the country market - noting he was the only country star who actually opened for the Doors at the Fillmore West one night and shared the stage with Mickey Gilley and Merle Haggard the next.

As part country singer and folk hero, Johnny Cash was one of the most towering and influential figures in American pop music. And it was with this distinct sound that Cash carried his career through the decades, writing more than 400 songs and scoring well over 100 hit singles some of which crossed over into pop charts and went gold. Cash had four number-one singles: "I Walk The Line," "There You Go," "Ballad Of A Teenage Queen" and "Guess Things Happen That Way." Along with being one of the most sought after recording artists of his time, Cash starred in his own television show for ABC, performed for President Nixon, acted in Hollywood, became a social activist, and scored a multitude of musical achievement awards.
