Frank Zappa’s Feature Film
Baby Snakes on DVD
Dweezil Zappa Produces 5.1 Audio Mix

Dweezil Zappa will be available for interviews to discuss Baby Snakes and his contributions to the project. The film received the following reviews during its theatrical release:

"Frank Zappa is a genius, and passage by passage this film is marvelous when it isn’t outright brilliant…" - F.X. Feeney, LA Weekly

"This sharply filmed rock concert documentary should delight Frank Zappa fans, and it achieves even broader appeal by including generous samples of animator Bruce Bickford’s fascinating, nightmarish, stop-frame work." - Terry Atkinson, LA Times

New York, NY - Eagle Rock Entertainment is releasing Frank Zappa’s acclaimed film Baby Snakes on DVD. A "movie about people who do stuff that is not normal," Baby Snakes provides on and offstage glimpses of arcane behavior engaged in by Zappa and fellow musicians. Winning first prize at The First International Festival of Musical Films in 1981, and First Prize in a French Animation Film Competition, Baby Snakes became an instant cult hit when it premiered at the Victoria Theatre in Times Square NYC during Christmas week of 1979 (the film ran 24 hours a day throughout the week).

Baby Snakes contains unique and bizarre Claymation from Bruce Bickford, including the famous segment in which a guy with a hamburger for a head consumes the guy sitting next to him. Zappa fans will clamor for this rare and unique opportunity to experience classic Zappa tracks included in the film, such as "Baby Snakes," "Curse of the Knick-Knack People" and "City of Tiny Lights." The live footage from Zappa’s 1978 Halloween concert at the Palladium Theater in New York City will not fail to disappoint fans of Zappa’s master showmanship. Co-stars include musicians Adrian Belew, Terry Bozzio, Patrick O’Hearn, Tommy Mars, Ed Mann, Peter Wolf and Roy Estrada who were assisted by the legendary John Smothers and New York’s Finest Crazy Persons.

Written, produced, directed and composed by Frank Zappa, Baby Snakes was produced in 5.1 audio for the DVD by his son Dweezil Zappa, along with Joe Travers & Kent Huffnagle. Dweezil also created special art for the project and his mother Gail Zappa acted as Executive Producer for the Concept & Art Direction.

Gail and Dweezil Zappa were recently on hand to accept the Surround Pioneer Award for Frank Zappa in December of 2003 for his groundbreaking recording techniques.
