New York, NY - Locomotive Music presents the third album from dark metal masters Before the Dawn with 4:17 am, a whimsical and melancholy creation out October 12, 2004.
Founded in the summer of 1999, Before the Dawn originally started as a solo project of guitarist and vocalist Tuomas Saukkonen. Dissatisfied and lonely, he recruited a full band to thicken the sound and together they created their first EP Gehenna on the band’s own Hellbound Records in 2001. BTD, in hopes of securing a better record deal, continued rehearsing to develop their songwriting skills. Soon after they signed with Locomotive and in January of 2003, released their second CD entitled My Darkness.
Looking to move forward from “4:16 am,” the last track on My Darkness, 4:17 am sees Before the Dawn’s musical progression while still displaying their talent for creating powerful, emotionally charged songs. BTD is a band touted for their ability to “play the pain of their souls away.” Their music has been described as “immense sorrow-filled, dedicated, very melodic, gorgeous and unique dark metal.”
Before the Dawn features Panu Willman on guitar and clean voice, Toni Broman on bass, Dani Miettinen on drums and Jarkko Mannikko on synthesizer.
