In 1968, Jethro Tull was introduced to the masses with their debut album This Was . As the group's frontman, Ian Anderson was gaining international attention with his unique and innovative style of flute playing. In 1970, in front of 600,000 people at the Isle of Wight Festival , Jethro Tull performed a set list that included tracks from their first three albums such as "My Sunday Feeling," To Cry You A Song," "Bouree" and "Nothing Is Easy."
Also included in the set is "My God," which would appear several months later on the well-known Aqualung album. With hits such as "Locomotive Breath," "Cross-Eyed Mary," and the title track, "Aqualung," the album would sell over seven million copies and continues being a commercial success today. Having earned a multitude of gold and platinum albums and a Grammy, Jethro Tull continues to tour and record, typically performing 100 concerts per year and remaining a massive live draw wherever they play around the world.
The original master recordings of the Isle of Wight Festival performance have been re-mastered under the supervision of Ian Anderson, giving the best possible sound quality and a true reflection of the performance that day.
